I was doing some testing with the new 50Mbps speed from Melita and found out that either the ISP or Youtube is limiting the download speed to 20Mbps.

True that the speed the speed will decrease as it is at a very long distance but it shouldn't really as the download speed from youtube normally always hits the maximum on lower speed networks such as 4Mbps or even 10Mbps

Personally I think it's Melita as Youtube has no problem pumping that much power to all over the world.

Link to test this out for your self: http://www.youtube.com/my_speed

if speedtest.net shows your dl speed as 50mb/s then it's youtube.

Try a video accelerator like Speedbit's.

I used to use it but doesn't speed up HD videos, because the paid version does that unless they changed, and found a complete freeware program called bywifi or something like that

Accelerators are a no no on my network, as I have set protocols but what I so is try to get other computers to help me download much like an accelerator. PC1 Downloads at 20Mbps and than the other PC2 helps with 20Mbps.

BUT... Still the connection is split 10/10 between the computers, I am beginnning to think it's melita doing this I heard stories on the internet that ISP have been limiting the Download and Upload speed for youtube as alot of people are using the bandwidth just to watch and upload videos to youtube.

Here is one particular video that cuaght my attention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iDRynyBl0c

Streaming vids at 50mb/s is no different to melita than downloading files at 50mb/s.

Youtube, on the other hand, has to provide its services to millions of users, so it makes more sense for them to limit the transfer speed.

Yeah but where do the packets of data come from, from the youtube i.e google inc.servers, therfore load is on youtube not on melita, it makes sense really, Just because you have a 200bhp car does not mean that you will always drive at the same speed, there might be a long stretch where you can speed or youre stuck in a traffic jam, no matter what engine you have, youre still stuck. Just as a server, infact you may notice that utube hangs abit on the hours that alot of people use it There was a site which stated the ammount of data and traffic of some particular utube servers.

The speed limit is from Youtube actually, They limit each link with a particular bandwitdh as the rest of the world are upgrading to quite a high speed, It would be impossible to generate each users intended bandwidth, Therefore they need to limit it to a standard speed with ratios of course.

It always depends on the number of users on Youtube which we all know is quite numeruous :)
